Effortless French design and style

Non voglio assolutamente suonare ripetitiva ma lo stile francese e l’arte di vivere francese dovrebbero essere un faro per chiunque. E non si tratta di uno stile di vita mediterraneo come molti sarebbero indotti a pensare, bensì di una mentalità e di un “art de vivre” esclusivamente legato a quel mélange di nord e mediterraneo che rappresenta la Francia.

Basti pensare alle parole francesi che ormai sono patrimonio linguistico di tutte le maggiori lingue del mondo: laissez faire, nonchalance, charme, art de vivre,  bon vivant, viveur, joie de vivre, flaner ecc., ecc. Per non parlare di tutta la terminologia che riguarda la moda, la cucina e tutto ciò che ruota intorno attività di piacere o di loisir che dir si voglia. E non sto menzionando le icone di stile francese. Ma su questo ritornerò un'altra volta, promesso. Insomma, la lingua riflette una mentalità tipica francese. Ecco perché mi ispirano gli interni francesi e quella meravigliosa frivolezza mista a cultura che dovrebbe costituire l’essenza delle nostre esistenze. La moda così come le decorazioni francesi, sono una commistione di vintage e di nuovo, di design all’ultimo grido e di pezzi antichi o di modernariato, rivisitati in chiave moderna. In una parola, quello stile senza sforzi (effortless) richiede invece anni e anni di coltivazione del gusto, forti note di carattere, un sentimento vigoroso verso tutto ciò che costituisce il bello. E mentre nella decorazione di interni vale la regola dell'accumulo degli oggetti che catturano l'attenzione, nella moda vale decisamente la regola d'oro "less is more". Pochi pezzi, purché di grande qualità.

Without wanting to sound repetitive, French style and the French way of life can be a life changer. It is not the Mediterrenean way of life. It is a mentality that originates from a wonderful mix of northern and mediterreanean features and France is all of that. Take a look at those myriad French words that are now a common universal linguistic heritage; charme, nonchalance, art de vivre, bon vivant, viveur, joie de vivre, flaner and so forth...... Not to mention here the fashion and kitchen terminology or everything descriping leisure activities. And then, there are the French fashion icons, but on this we will return another time. Language reflects the mentality of those speaking that language. That is why I feel so inspired by French interiors. Effortlessness, beautiful vintage objects mixed with style and nonchalange to modern and contemporary art pieces, are just a French thing. Even if everything seems effortless, there is a profound knowledge and study of taste and innate drive toward beauty. While in fashion less is more is the rule, in interior decoration, more is more seems to be the dictate. Let yourself be inspired and just feel a little bit frivolous!
