Decorating with prints......

Intanto, buon tour virtuale! Alla prossima!

As promised, here I am with a new post and new pics shot just a few days before Christmas, in full Christmas atmosphere. I had promised a post on Christmas decorations in Rome, but then I had a work meeting in one of the most beautiful and chic places in Rome, the JK Hotel. Of course, I took some pictures for you all. That place is just magical. It has been decorated in neutral and pearl grey colors and the final outcome is just stunning. It really seems, as someone said, a Dolce Vita (Fellini's film) interior. Once the meeting was over, I found myself in the middle of the Fontanella Borghese square, which is just around the corner. The place is renown for its print stands where artisanal, hand Painted pictures and prints of Greek urns, amphoras and Roman ruins literally make those small stands look just a bit crammed. But in those stands, real treasures can be found. Beautiful golden framed mirrors, classical subjects pictures, dead natures and whatever you need to decorate a nude wall. I hope you enjoy the pics I am sharing! Have a great day! Till next post!

Friday's fashion - Ispirazione moda autunno

Today's post is about fashion and color inspiration! I was chit chatting with some friends and recalling some of our hobbies and things we liked to do when we were younger. Would you guess what I liked to do? Design interiors and sketches of fashion outfits. I was really inspired and I wonder now where did I find that amount of inspiration, because as hard as I might try, I can't find it..... I am going to show you a snap of those skethces, because I feel rust is the color of the season. Please don't laugh at it..... Actually, I chose the color of rust because of of a beautiful post of a french blogger, www.annouchka.fr. It made me think of the color as the perfect color for this time of the year. The falling leaves of autumn are of the same color or turning into rust, it is the predominant color of Rome and its Renaissance buildings, it is so warm and elegant at the same time. Have a wonderful week-end!

Bookshelves - Libri.... libri.... libri.....

A room without books is like a body without a soul! - Plato

The phrase above should be engraved in gold letters so that every human being can become aware of the importance of culture and books. I grew up among books, in my parents'home the bathroom also is full of magazines, multilingual books and volumes of all kind.
With that background, no wonder I love going at the bookstore during my lunch break. Every day I strive to find a little time for myself in order to keep updated with the latest publications, but as every working woman and every mom knows it’s not always possible. Fortunately, very close to my office there is a well furnished bookstore where I have the opportunity to breathe a good amount of culture and get a little updated. Don’t be surprised! I read an entire book (of about 10 pages) with some poetry by W.H. Auden. Amazing!!!! Tell me the truth about love etc. Reading those marvelous poetry lines I wondered on how could I possibly enrich my personal library or better organize my bookcases. I have plenty of volumes, some suffering from lack of space and others waiting to be rearranged. Here are some pictures that inspire me.

Contemporary style and pure lines!

Traditional, warm and familiar!

This is how my library would be if I lived in a loft!

A ray of light

Seemingly and hopefully Rome has left behind snow and cold.... A ray of light over the last couple of days warmed the city and since it seems the cold days are to be forgotten once and for all, at least for this year, here I am wishing to everybody out there a nice, bright and warm day! I am looking forward to summer this year. Winter just seemed was never ending. Today I am inspired by these wonderful , freshlooking and lightflooded interiors. Enjoy!

This is how my table should look today!

A loft in Milan.

The picture below shows the interiors of a penthouse in Manhattan. Wouldn't it be just great to have a look of the apple from here?

Stripes.........................

I'm really liking stripes in home furniture lately, coniugated in every form and color. I bought a sofa lately and I am thinking to upholster it with a white and black striped textile. I'm also going mad about striped rugs and carpets. Mostly I like bold and classical color combos, like black and white, yellow and grey, yellow and black and so on.....  Stripes are so modern and contemporary and they give a very fresh and young look to every interior. Her are some interiors I chose for you and where you'll find my favourite decorative elements; stripes, facial outlines, bold color, all-white interiors.

Mirror, mirror on the wall....

Lately I’ve been wondering about how you can decorate your home using mirrors in order to visually expand the spaces you live in. Mirrors can do miracles. Actually, I have a real passion for mirrors, like the majority of women all around the world, I guess. Living in a center city placed apartment, I can’t afford big spaces and I have developed this special passion for mirrored walls,  which make my house look bigger and simply look great. It’s a real fantastic practical and cheap solution to personalize your home and add an original touch to it. You can use wall-sized mirrors, framed mirrors and display them wherever you want, especially in  areas of your house that lack natural light.
Here I’d like to share some great ideas with all city living people!!!! Have a look at what “miracles” mirrors can do! Enjoy your scrolling!

Profilo decorativo

A presto!

Very very soon, even if I really don’t know when, I’m going to realize this facial outlines painting for one of my totally bare home walls. It goes without saying, I will publish pictures of the outcome. I find this a very original and decorative idea. You can transfer the image on pillows, on tissues etc.
In you ever go to Paris, on Montmartre hill, the hill of the artists, you’ll find a lot of professional artists specialized in facial outlines. You can take your facial painting and put it in a frame to decorate your wall.

Here is another picture of black and white facial outlines painting. My favourites, absolutely!!!!!!!

Here is another wall composition made up of different frames, different subjects and dimnsions. Only notice how the two outlines catch the eye and become the real protagonists of the wall.

Another example which at first sight might seem a little "exaggerated". The whole wall has been decorated with black and white outlines. The whole effect is just amazing. On my view, the wall without the central landscape frame would have looked less "cluttered".
